Early pick-up from hotels for drive to El Djem to visit one of the best conserved Roman Amphitheatres in the world.

Drive to Matmata passing through a sea of olive trees near the city of Sfax to Gabes, a large maritime oasis, before reaching the lunar landscapes of southern Tunisia.

Arrive Matmata, where parts of the Star Wars films were made. After lunch we continue over steppes, where Bedouins still live as nomads in their half open tents with their flocks of goats and camels, to visit a Troglodyte cave dwelling and visit a Berber family.

Drive to Douz, gateway town to the Sahara, for optional camel ride / walk on the dunes in time to watch the sunset over the desert.

Dinner and overnight at the 3-star Mehari Douz hotel.

After an early breakfast drive to Tozeur via several oases across a huge salt lake called Chott El Jerid. Watch out for mirages!

Arrive Tozeur and visit the town and oasis with optional horse carriage ride; visit the Dar Cherait Museum.

Option 1 (Monday departures only):

Continue up the Atlas mountains in 4x4 vehicles to visit the mountain oases of Chebika and Tamerza.

Option 2 (Thursday departures only):

Travel into the desert by 4x4 vehicles to Onc el Jemel and visit the film set in the desert which featured in the Star Wars films.

Then:

After Lunch we leave Tozeur and travel via Kairouan to your resort hotel.
