This four day private tour can be combined with a week long holiday in Tunisia from the resorts on the Carthage Coast, Hammamet, Sousse or Port El Kantaoui.
Depending on your arrival date you will spend 2 or 3 nights in a resort hotel before travelling south on our 4 day adventure. On completion of the tour you return to a resort hotel for 1 or 2 nights.
| Day 1 |
Visit the Coliseum at El Djem, Maritime Oasis at Gabes and the Troglodyte
Village of Matmata (featured in Star Wars film). Dinner and overnight
in the troglodyte style Hotel Diar El Barbar. |
| Day 2 |
Visit troglodyte cave dwelling in Matmata. See craggy mountain fastnesses
and fortified citadels (Ksour) including Ksar Haddada which featured
in Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace. Visit Ghomrassen,
Tataouine (market town),
Chenini and Douiret. Then in to the desert to Ksar Ghilane for a night
under the stars. Dinner and overnight at the Pansea Douar luxury
tent encampment. |
| Day 3 |
Optional Camel ride to the ruins of a Roman Fortress then
travel to Douz on market day. Cross the Chott El Jerid salt lake
to Tozeur then back to the desert to visit Star Wars film set at Onc
el Jemel. Dinner and overnight stay at the 4 star Hotel
Ras El Ain in the oasis town of Tozeur. |
| Day 4 |
Leave Tozeur travelling through the region of the 'pink' mountains
to the phosphate town of Metlaoui where you will board the famous
Lizard Rouge train for the journey through the Gorges of Selja.
The 4x4 will meet you at the train stop and take you to the mountain
oases of Mides and the deserted village of Tamerza. Lunch at Tamerza
Palace Hotel. Travel via Gafsa to Kairouan and finally
return to your resort hotel. |
