What to see: The minaret of Zitouna, the Great Mosque is a 19th century addition - open to tourists every morning except Friday. Museum of Arts and Traditions is a splendid 18th century palace with a marble court which houses intricate costumes and accessories of upper class life in 19th century Tunis. Hammouda Pasha Mosque - a delicately decorated octagonal minaret. Bardo Museum located in a 19th century palace on the west side of the city, is home to one of the finest collections of Roman mosaics to be seen anywhere in the world. In the Avenue Habib Bourguiba the elegant buildings have recently been restored to their former glory and here you will find a shaded boulevard containing flower stalls, modern shops, cafés, shoeshine men and newspaper sellers.
